Serve The World
We have lots of ways to get involved and serve the world–
there’s something for everyone.
Members of the Prayer Shawl Ministry knit shawls to give to people who need comfort or are celebrating a special event. Each shawl is blessed individually by the knitters and by the congregation in worship. Knitters of all skill levels are invited. Non-knitters will be shown how to make a prayer shawl.
The Prayer Shawl Knitters are not meeting in person at this time.
The Dorcas Circle ties quilts for at-risk babies. About three hundred quilts are blessed each year on “Quilt Sunday” and then distributed to St. Vincent’s Paths program, Rehabilitation Institute of SB, Los Niños in Lower West Side and Goleta, and the State Pre-K, Headstart, and Preschool programs at Harding School. Everyone is invited to join the quilters; no special skills are needed.

Our Peace Crane Ministry supports communities that have experienced gun violence. Flocks of 1,000 “peace cranes” are blessed and sent to faith communities throughout the United States as a symbol of our sympathy and sollidarity against gun violence. Everyone is invited to fold origami cranes.
Our LGBT Outreach efforts include supporting the annual AIDS Walk, sponsoring a booth at the SB Pride Festival, and holding educational events about LGBT-related issues. Everyone is invited to share in planning and to participate in these activities.
